The Villas
Pamoja means together in Kiswahili, and that is roughly the idea. Two whitewashed buildings under makuti thatch, eight rooms between them, a long pool in the garden and a gate that opens onto the sand. No lobby, no wristbands, no queue for a lounger.
The gardens were planted from nothing and have grown in fast — frangipani, banana, papaya and a great deal of palm. The furniture was made on the island out of mangrove pole and driftwood. The floors are polished concrete because it stays cool underfoot, which matters here more than marble does.
The owner is usually somewhere on the property, and the team have been here since we opened. Guests score us 9.9 out of 10 for staff, which is the number we are quietly proudest of.
Accommodation

Dining & Days
The kitchen cooks Zanzibari, African and European food with fresh ingredients. When you want to leave the property, we can arrange the boat, the guide and the car.

Open-sided and under makuti thatch, with heavy timber tables and a stone bar. Fish comes in from the boats in the morning; the spices come from up the road. Vegetarian dishes are always on, not an afterthought.

A table for two set at the water's edge, linen, flowers, and the kitchen's full attention. We do this for honeymoons, anniversaries and, on occasion, for people who simply felt like it. Tell us the day before.

A traditional wooden dhow, a light breeze, and the sun going down over the channel. Leaves from the beach in front of the villas in the late afternoon and brings you back in time for dinner.

There are plenty of beautiful reefs just offshore and there is good snorkelling within a short boat ride — Mnemba atoll for the serious version, with a real chance of dolphins on the way out. We arrange the boat, the guide and the gear.

Clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla growing where they actually grow, then on to Stone Town for the Old Fort, the alleys and the night market at Forodhani. A long day, and the one guests most often say they are glad they did.

Finding us
We are on Nungwi Road at Migogoni, between Fukuchani and the northern beaches — far enough from the busy end of the island to be quiet, close enough to get to it in half an hour.

Zanzibar International Airport is about 49 km away — an hour and a quarter by road. We arrange private transfers for guests at a fixed price; ask when you book and someone will be waiting for you with a name board.
Check-in is from 13:00 and check-out is at 11:00. If your flight lands early or leaves late, tell us — we will almost always find a way to make it work, and there is somewhere to shower and leave your bags either way.
Breakfast is served à la carte in the restaurant or on your terrace. Whether it is included depends on the rate you book, so ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you exactly what your rate covers.
Yes. You walk out of the garden onto the sand. Loungers and umbrellas are set up for guests. This is the north-west coast, so the tide moves a long way — swimming is best around high tide, and the low-tide walk out over the flats is worth doing at least once.
We have a backup generator on site which can power most amentities.
Very. The Triple Room takes three, we can add a cot to any room, and the kitchen is happy to cook simpler things for small people. The pool has no lifeguard, so children need an adult with them.
We have our own, open to guests all day, serving Zanzibari, African and European dishes with vegetarian options always available. Most guests eat with us most nights — but Nungwi is 25 minutes away if you fancy a change.
Sunset dhow sailing, snorkelling on the reef, the Mnemba atoll, Kendwa and Nungwi beaches, spice farms, Jozani Forest, and Stone Town about an hour south. We book all of it for you at local prices.
